My third largest business expense after rent and staff is the business rate.

Does anyone feel that lobying WBC could have any affect on this.

We got no help when the road was up; now we are in recession. Unfortunately the council now collects the business rate whether a unit is occupied or empty; this does suggest an immovable position?

I feel there is always chance of negotiation if a group were to show solidarity and approach the Borough as 'one'

However using past and present experience I think it will be a struggle to motivate some of the businesses in Lymm to make any effort to contribute either time or support, and they are some of the first to complain about things not being busy enough or too expensive or lack of customers Brick wall

Perhaps this will alter when they see things happening and see positive changes.

Boo hoo! The news is full of examples of both government agencies and private utility/fuel companies either choosing to or being forced by public pressure, to reduce prices or offer concessions to the paying public - I think we should take the same stance and apply some pressure lest we'll plod through this 'recession' and receive nothing - after all we are their customers!
